Radial shockwave at the clinic is delivered using equipment manufactured by market leading Swiss company Storz Medical.

Radial shockwave (sometimes refereed to as extracorporeal shockwave) is an established evidence based treatment that involves passing high energy sound waves into damaged tissues. This increases blood flow to stimulate repair while reducing pain and allowing your body to re start its own natural healing process.

It is a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment and is recommended by the UK NICE guidelines for conditions such as:-

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendon pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • GTPS (gluteal tendon pain syndrome)
  • Calcific tendinopathy

Our doctors use radial shockwave treatment as appropriate to treat all of the above conditions. In addition, the podiatrist makes use of radial shockwave for the treatment of foot conditions (i.e. plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon pain)

This treatment can be used for chronic conditions but it is not suitable for new (acute) conditions where the tissues are inflamed.

Between three and six treatments are required to get the best results and this treatment is generally used alongside rehabilitation exercises for best effect.
