Martyn Speight’s Retirement:
For those of you who have known me for some time, you will know that MSK/Sport/Exercise Medicine is not just a job for me, but a true vocation. However, all good things must come to an end and after some deliberation, I have made the decision to retire.
I would like to thank all the patients and my colleagues who have placed their trust in me over the years. I have enjoyed my career immensely and it has been an honour to work with you all. I would also like to thank my wife, Lisa (Practice Manager), who has supported me since my junior doctor days, without which none of this would have been possible. She has spent endless hours working away behind the scenes, helping me to achieve my ambitions.
To meet the demand for musculoskeletal and sports medicine services, my colleague, Dr Rahul Lakhera, will be increasing his hours and the plan is for Rahul and his wife Claire to eventually take over the running of the clinic. Rahul first joined our clinical team in April 2021 and it has been a real privilege to work with him. I am confident that he has the necessary clinical skills and personal attributes to ensure the perpetuity of a very high standard of professional care and I know that the clinic will continue in very good hands.
In the interests of clinical continuity, I will shortly be closing my diary to new patients, although I will run an ad-hoc clinic or two in October for any patient currently under my care who still requires clinical closure after the end of September when my regular clinics come to an end.
Thanks for the great journey.
Kind regards
Dr Martyn Speight
