Dr Rishi Dhand is a Sports Medicine Doctor and has been the First Team Doctor at Leeds United F.C. since 2019. He specialises in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided treatments for a range of conditions, including osteoarthritis, tendon injuries and other joint and soft-tissue problems.

While he works extensively with elite athletes, Dr Dhand also treats patients from the general public, helping to manage both sports injuries and common degenerative conditions affecting joints, muscles, and tendons. He takes a personalised approach to care, aiming to reduce pain, improve function, and help patients return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr Dhand graduated from Newcastle University and completed his Foundation training before working as a Surgical Teaching Fellow at Sunderland Royal Hospital, where he gained experience in General Surgery whilst also teaching medical students. He later undertook General Practice training in Yorkshire, including a rheumatology rotation during which he ran a weekly injection clinic for patients with inflammatory arthritis.

Alongside his clinical training, Dr Dhand completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine with Merit from the University of Bath and became a Member of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (MFSEM) in 2021. He has also undertaken further specialist training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, achieving distinction in his qualification while completing additional advanced training in both Leeds and London.

In elite sport, Dr Dhand has provided medical support to athletes across multiple disciplines. In addition to his role at Leeds United FC, he has worked with Castleford Tigers, Yorkshire Rugby Football Union and British Gymnastics, supporting athletes competing at World, European and British Championship levels. He also served as Chief Medical Officer for British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) from 2019 to 2022.
